When should I unquestionably file for divorce?

On Behalf of | Nov 21, 2018 | divorce

Most Pennsylvania spouses decide to get a divorce after a lot of careful consideration. However, there are a few circumstances in which a spouse shouldn’t waste time. If you’re currently experiencing one of the following situations in your marriage, you should not wait before submitting your divorce papers:

Your spouse is an addict

You have asked your spouse, again and again, to get his or her addictions under control. Sometimes, your spouse cleans up for several days, but it’s never for very long. Sooner or later, it’s back to the drugs or alcohol and all the violence, rage and other problems return. You do not have to endure this kind of toxic situation and should consider cutting your losses.

Your spouse is abusive

An abusive spouse is someone you should escape without question. It’s not someone you should have to endure. Seek help and protection from the police and end your relationship immediately.

Your spouse is a criminal

If your spouse is engaged in criminal activity, he or she could get you mixed up in a crime as well. If you want to keep your legal record clean — and lower your stress levels — filing for divorce could be the best decision you ever make.

There are many other reasons why spouses might want to end their marriage in Pennsylvania, but if you’re experiencing one of the above scenarios, you shouldn’t bat an eye: Your decision to divorce should be immediate. When you’re ready for help with untying the knot of your marriage, our law firm is available to help.
